One of the biggest challenges for any laptop, is to deal with water!
Although Toughbooks are not "waterproof", the fully rugged Panasonic Toughbook CF-30, CF-31 and CF-19 are IP65 certified and are water resistant! They can easily handle a heavy rain, can be used in the desert, mounted on a yacht with exposure to salt water, etc...

Toughbooks undergo IP particle resistance and liquid resistance testing, Most Panasonic fully-rugged computers like the CF-19, CF-30 and CF-31 have achieved an IP65 rating. The first number (6) indicates dust resistance, the second number (5) is water resistance
Higher numbers indicate a higher tolerance to dust and water. For example, a unit with an IP65 certification will withstand exposure to dust and water better than a unit with an IP54 certification.

The smaller, more portable Panasonic Toughbook CF-19 is usually a better choice because it is about 5lbs light and converts from a laptop to a rugged Tablet PC with a quick swivel of the touchscreen! It is a great rugged unit for general contractors, home inspectors, engineers, architects, etc...
